In *Path of Exile 2*, players might stumble upon the intriguing Golden Idols during their journey through Act 3. These unique Quest Items, while labeled as such, don't function like traditional quest items; they won't trigger a quest entry in your log upon collection. Instead, these Golden Idols serve a different purpose: they can be sold for a substantial amount of gold. There are five such idols to collect, and they're scattered throughout the ruins of the Vaal civilization.
Your quest for the Golden Idols begins after you reach Act 3 and explore the ruins beneath the Ziggurat Encampment. A portal will transport you back in time to the Vaal city of Utzaal, known in the present as The Drowned City. This is where you'll witness the peak of the Vaal's power, but keep your focus on the task at hand. The Golden Idols are hidden within Utzaal and the connected area of Aggorat. Specifically, you can find three idols in Utzaal and two in Aggorat:
These idols can be discovered on the ground or on pedestals, often tucked away in side rooms. Importantly, they do not drop from enemies; you'll need to search carefully to uncover them.
Once you've collected a Golden Idol, your next step is to return to the Ziggurat Encampment and trade it for gold. Not all vendors will accept these idols, but Oswald, located on the north side of the encampment, will. When you speak with him and access the Buy & Sell screen, you'll find that each idol can be sold for a hefty sum:
If you manage to collect all five idols during your exploration of Utzaal and Aggorat, you'll amass a total of 6000 Gold. Given their high value and the fact that they take up inventory space without any other function, it's wise to return to the encampment to sell them as soon as you find them, freeing up space for further adventures.
