"GTA 5 Enhanced Edition Receives Lowest User Reviews on Steam"

by Nova Mar 28,2025

Rockstar's latest release, Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced, has faced a rocky reception on Steam following its launch in early March. Despite being a free upgrade for existing PC owners of GTA 5, the game has garnered a 'mixed' user review rating, with only 54% of the 19,772 reviews being positive. This contrasts sharply with the original GTA 5, which, though now unlisted on Steam, boasts a 'very positive' rating.

GTA 5 Enhanced introduces features that were previously exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S versions of GTA Online. These include access to Hao’s Special Works for vehicles and performance upgrades, animal encounters, and the ability to purchase a GTA+ Membership. Additionally, the update offers enhanced graphics options and faster loading times. However, a significant issue plaguing the release is the problematic account migration process, which has been the focal point of many negative reviews.

Players have expressed frustration over the inability to migrate their existing GTA Online profiles, with some reviews highlighting the lack of support from Rockstar. One reviewer lamented, "The GTA Online profile associated with this Rockstar Games account is not eligible for migration at this time," while others criticized the game as a downgrade and expressed reluctance to start over despite the new features.

Despite these setbacks, GTA 5 Enhanced remains popular, with a peak concurrent player count of 187,059 since its launch. However, the issues have raised concerns among the PC gaming community about the potential release of Grand Theft Auto 6 on PC, especially since GTA 6 is slated for a fall 2025 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, with no confirmed PC launch date.

In related news, Rockstar has been involved in legal action against PlayerAuctions for unauthorized GTA 5 content listings and has acquired Video Games Deluxe, renaming it Rockstar Australia.
