Speculation Mounts: Will GTA 6 Arrive on PC?

Take-Two Interactive's CEO hints at a potential future PC release for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), fueling anticipation among fans. While not officially confirmed, the company's history and recent statements suggest a PC launch is likely, albeit possibly after initial console releases.

Take-Two's Stance on PC Releases

In a February 10, 2025 interview with IGN, CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed that while Civilization 7 will launch simultaneously on consoles and PC, Rockstar Games, historically, has staggered releases across platforms. He cited GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 as examples, both initially released on consoles before later PC versions. This precedent suggests a similar strategy for GTA 6.

While a simultaneous PC release was hoped for by many fans, Zelnick's comments indicate a strong likelihood of an eventual PC port. The significant revenue generated by PC releases (up to 40% of total sales, according to Zelnick) further supports this expectation.

Strong Sales Projected Across Platforms

Despite declining console sales, Zelnick expressed confidence in GTA 6's performance across all platforms, predicting that the game's release will boost console sales for both Sony and Microsoft. He highlighted the historical impact of major game releases on console sales and anticipates a similar effect this year. The increasing importance of the PC market, however, remains a key factor in Take-Two's strategy.

GTA 6's fall 2025 release date is confirmed, but a PC-specific date remains unannounced. For the latest updates, visit our Grand Theft Auto 6 page.

Expansion to Nintendo Switch 2?

Further fueling speculation, Take-Two's Q3 Fiscal Conference Call on February 6, 2025, revealed interest in bringing their titles to the Nintendo Switch 2. Zelnick cited a shifting perception of the Nintendo audience and the Switch 2's broadened appeal as reasons for this potential expansion. The inclusion of Civilization 7 on the Switch 2 further reinforces this commitment.
