GTA 6 Trailer 2 Boosts The Pointer Sisters' Spotify Streams

by Matthew May 16,2025

The Pointer Sisters' "Hot Together" has experienced a phenomenal surge in Spotify streams following its inclusion in the newly released trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, which debuted just yesterday. Within two hours of the trailer's premiere, the 1986 hit saw an astonishing 182,000% increase in streams on Spotify. Although the latest figures show "Hot Together" at just over 250,000 streams, these numbers are expected to rise significantly in the coming days.

"Grand Theft Auto cuts through popular culture like almost nothing else," said Spotify's Global Head of Editorial, Sulinna Ong. "Music has been synonymous with the series since the very beginning, so it’s great to see fans both new and established connecting with an iconic track in this way."

It has been 24 hours since Rockstar Games unveiled the latest trailer for GTA 6, which has already amassed an impressive 77.7 million views on YouTube at the time of this article's publication. The surge in popularity for "Hot Together" is remarkable, yet not surprising. When the first trailer for Rockstar's latest installment was revealed in late 2023, featuring Tom Petty's "Love Is A Long Road," it also experienced a massive boost in Spotify streams. This led to numerous fan theories about the song's connection to GTA 6's storyline, though no such speculation has yet surfaced for "Hot Together."

As fans eagerly await the release of GTA 6, now delayed to May 26, 2026, Rockstar is providing them with plenty of great music to enjoy in the meantime.
