Leslie Benzies, the acclaimed former lead game designer behind Rockstar titles like Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, is set to unveil his latest project, MindsEye. This upcoming game was showcased in a new trailer during the PlayStation State of Play, offering fans a glimpse into what promises to be a thrilling high-tech spy adventure.
The cinematic trailer for MindsEye highlights elements reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto, featuring third-person shooting, high-quality cinematics, and dynamic drive-and-shoot sequences. You can watch the trailer below to get a sense of the game's atmosphere and action.
According to the official press release, MindsEye centers on protagonist Jacob Diaz, who is equipped with a neural implant known as the MindsEye. This device, however, has tampered with his memory, resulting in fragmented flashbacks of his military past. Driven by a need to uncover the truth, Jacob embarks on a mission that pits him against an AI-powered military force.
MindsEye has been in the works for several years since Benzies left Rockstar Games to establish his new studio, Build a Rocket Boy. In collaboration with Hitman developer IO Interactive, MindsEye is being developed as a AAA action-adventure game. Alongside the game, Benzies is also launching the Everywhere platform, which we previously likened to a "Big budget Roblox" following a visit to their studio in 2024.
Although the new trailer did not delve into the Everywhere platform, MindsEye itself appears poised to deliver an exhilarating new action experience from a key figure in the gaming industry. The game is slated for release in the summer of 2025.
