"Guide to Winning the A Prize Held High in Monster Hunter Wilds"

by Emily May 29,2025

If you're diving into Monster Hunter Wilds and craving a challenge beyond taking down mighty monsters, the A Prize Held High trophy/achievement is a great side objective to pursue. Contrary to what the name might suggest, this trophy isn't tied to dragons or wyverns—it’s all about catching the elusive Curioshell Crab using your Capture Net.

How to Unlock the A Prize Held High Trophy/Achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds

To secure this trophy, you'll need to locate and capture the Curioshell Crab in one of the game's various maps. While the crab can appear almost anywhere, the Scarlet Forest offers the most reliable hunting grounds. Head to the Flowering Rocks pop-up camp in Area 6, which lies between Areas 2 and 6. If you're unfamiliar with the location, it’s easily accessible from the base camp.

Once you reach Area 6, keep an eye out for a puddle of water nearby. This is the Curioshell Crab's favorite spawning ground. If you struggle to spot it visually, Alma’s helpful dialogue can guide you. She’ll ask if the creature is holding something, signaling the crab’s presence.

With the Capture Net equipped, aim carefully until the reticle turns orange, indicating a successful lock-on. Fire the net and, if executed correctly, you'll catch not only the Curioshell Crab but also an Ancient Wyvern Coin.

Tips for Success

The Curioshell Crab moves quickly, so timing is key. Aim slightly ahead of its path to ensure a successful capture. In addition to Area 6, the Windward Plains’ Area 13 and the Scarlet Forest’s Area 8 are known hotspots for the crab. Keep in mind that while other areas may occasionally host the crab, these locations have proven most effective during testing.
