Hearthstone has unveiled the highly anticipated Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching January 21st. This expansion, the largest in Hearthstone history, introduces 49 new cards—a significant increase over typical Mini-Sets. The cards blend seamlessly with existing Hearthstone mechanics, featuring class-specific cards and multi-class cards themed around the three StarCraft factions: Zerg, Protoss, and Terran. A single neutral Legendary card completes the set.
Initially teased during the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, Heroes of StarCraft marks a thrilling crossover between Hearthstone and Blizzard's acclaimed StarCraft universe. Following the initial announcement, Blizzard has now revealed full details of this exciting expansion.
The 49 cards are distributed as follows: three cards per Hearthstone class, five faction-specific cards per StarCraft race (one of which is a Legendary), and a single neutral Legendary card, Grunty. A staggered card reveal schedule leading up to the launch will keep players engaged.
Hearthstone Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set Release Date:
The Zerg cards, playable by Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, focus on swarming the board with Zerglings and leveraging Hydralisks for devastating area-of-effect damage. Protoss cards (Druid, Mage, Priest, Rogue) introduce powerful mana manipulation strategies, enabling the deployment of expensive cards like the Carrier. Finally, Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior players will utilize the Starship mechanic from The Great Dark Beyond, with new Starship Pieces, improved Starship deployment options, and a unique Mech-type Starship.
The increased size of this Mini-Set does translate to a higher price point. While obtainable through The Great Dark Beyond packs, players can purchase the full Heroes of StarCraft set for $20 (2500 gold) or its Golden version for $80 (12,000 gold). Alternatively, individual faction packs (Protoss, Terran, or Zerg) are available for $10 (1200 gold).
To celebrate the launch, Hearthstone is hosting two streamed events: StarCast (January 23rd, 10 AM PST) featuring StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9, and HearthCraft (January 24th, 9 AM PST) showcasing Hearthstone community creators battling it out. Viewers can earn in-game rewards by tuning in on Twitch, including The Great Dark Beyond packs.
