The Staff of Ice, a unique Wonder Weapon in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, starts weak but transforms into a high-round powerhouse after an upgrade. This guide details the upgrade process on The Tomb map.

Prerequisites:

Before upgrading, you need the Staff of Ice itself. Obtain it from the Mystery Box or by collecting its three parts. Early access to the Dark Aether Nexus (via the Door to Nowhere) is crucial.

Upgrade Steps:

Step 1: Freezing Dark Aether Crystals

Freeze three Dark Aether Crystals rapidly using the Staff of Ice. These crystals reside in underground Dark Aether lanterns (black frame, purple glow). Perks like Stamin-Up and PHD Flopper (with Tribologist) significantly aid this step. Optimize your route; the most efficient path involves the tomb area, the Shrine of the Hierophants, and the lantern near the Subterranean Temple entrance (avoiding the lantern near Quick Revive due to distance). Successful completion triggers a quote from Archibald, signaling progression to the Dark Aether Nexus.

Step 2: Targeting Floating Runes

Within the Dark Aether Nexus, locate three floating rocks with glowing purple Runes. Each Rune displays a unique symbol. Shoot each Rune with the Staff of Ice (a hitmarker confirms success). This lowers the rocks, making the symbols easier to identify. A sniper rifle might improve accuracy. The order of shooting is inconsequential.

Step 3: The Rune Symbol Puzzle

Return to the main map. A stone wall will replace a portal. Locate the corresponding area and find a wall with Runic icons. Identify the three icons matching the symbols from the floating rocks. Shoot these three symbols with the Staff of Ice. The portal will reopen, regardless of whether you chose the correct symbols. Incorrect choices teleport you back to the Dark Aether Nexus from a high altitude. Multiple failures might require waiting for the next round. Correct choices lead to a floating rock and a purple orb. Interact with the orb.

Step 4: Orb Escort

The orb will move; follow it and kill zombies nearby. The kills power the orb's movement. Once the orb reaches the central structure in the Dark Aether Nexus, a small purple portal appears. Interact with it to upgrade the Staff of Ice to Ull's Arrow.

Ull's Arrow Abilities:

Ull's Arrow boasts a powerful charged AoE attack and an alternate fire mode for reviving downed players, mirroring the weapon from Black Ops 2 and 3.
