Ahead of the highly anticipated release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles, Aspyr has thrilled fans by confirming that Jar Jar Binks will be a playable character in the game. This beloved title, which originally hit the shelves in 2000, is set to return with a refreshed lineup that taps into the nostalgia of Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace. The new version not only brings back iconic characters and locations but also introduces exciting new features such as customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support.
Aspyr unveiled Jar Jar Binks' inclusion through an engaging new trailer, showing the Gungan in action as he battles various enemies with a large staff. While some fans might have fantasized about Jar Jar wielding a red lightsaber and embodying the infamous Darth Jar Jar persona from fan theories, the trailer confirms his use of a more traditional weapon. Jar Jar's characteristic chaotic voice lines add an authentic touch to his gameplay. Fans eager to experience this can pre-order Jedi Power Battles, set to launch on January 23.
Aspyr is significantly expanding the roster of playable characters for the modern release of Jedi Power Battles. Alongside Jar Jar Binks, nine other characters have been announced, with promises of even more to come. The new additions range from recognizable figures like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian to various droid types such as the Flame Droid, Destroyer Droid, and Rifle Droid. Notably, Jar Jar isn't the only Gungan playable, as the Gungan Guard will also be available.
With the release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles just around the corner, fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to explore these new characters and features. Aspyr's experience in updating other classic franchise games, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, positions them well to deliver an updated experience that will satisfy nostalgic fans and newcomers alike.
