Netflix Stories Cancelled, Still Playable!

Netflix has officially announced the closure of its interactive fiction games under the Netflix Stories banner, marking the end of a brief yet intriguing foray into narrative gaming. Despite boasting a solid player base, the decision to cancel Netflix Stories has taken many by surprise. So, what led to this decision? Let's dive into the details for the full story!

The announcement, initially reported by Variety, reflects a strategic pivot within Netflix Games. The focus is now shifting towards developing mobile titles that cater to party games, children's entertainment, mainstream releases, and more interactive experiences suitable for TV play.

Boss Fight Entertainment, the creative force behind the Netflix Stories series, will continue its collaboration with Netflix on other projects, notably including the much-anticipated Squid Game: Unleashed.

Netflix Stories Gets Cancelled: What's Next?

Despite facing its share of criticism, Netflix Stories consistently held a strong position, ranking fourth in the Netflix Games top 10 carousel, a ranking that reflects playtime rather than mere downloads.

Looking ahead, the final interactive title in the Netflix Stories lineup will be Love Is Blind: NYC. Once this game is fully rolled out, the development of new Netflix Stories games will cease. This news comes hot on the heels of the Netflix Stories app teasing its next game, The Love Contract, slated originally for an April 8th release. Unlike its predecessors, The Love Contract was to be an original romance tale, not tied to any existing Netflix IP, revolving around an actress navigating a complex love triangle involving a Hollywood star and a billionaire amidst fame, scandal, and faux romance. Unfortunately, this project has now been scrapped.

While no new games will be developed, fans can still enjoy the existing Netflix Stories titles. Games like Love Is Blind, Emily in Paris, Money Heist, Love Is Blind: Winter's Kiss, Perfect Match, Sex Education, Selling Sunset, Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, and The Perfect Couple will remain accessible. However, planned sequels for Outer Banks and Ginny & Georgia have been cancelled.

That's the latest on Netflix Stories! If you're a fan of Netflix shows, you might want to check out these games on the Google Play Store.
