Pocketpair's Palworld, renowned for its expansive open-world exploration, continues to captivate players since its January 2024 launch. The Feybreak DLC significantly expanded the game's crafting system, introducing new materials like Dark Fragments. This crucial component is essential for crafting high-level equipment, making its acquisition a priority for Feybreak explorers.

How to Obtain Dark Fragments in Palworld

To acquire Dark Fragments, players must hunt Dark-elemental Pals exclusively found on Feybreak Island. This material is unique to Feybreak; Pals from other regions won't yield Dark Fragments. Coastal areas primarily feature ground and water-type Pals; venturing inland is necessary to locate Dark-elemental Pals. Note that some Pals, such as Starryon, are nocturnal unless encountered as boss variants.

Defeating or capturing these Pals (using Ultimate or Exotic Spheres is recommended) yields 1-3 Dark Fragments per encounter. Drops aren't guaranteed, but diligent hunting should provide ample resources.

The following Dark-elemental Pals yield Dark Fragments. Boss and predator variants exist in various locations:

Pal Name Drop Rate Starryon1-2 x Dark Fragments Omascul1-2 x Dark Fragments Splatterina2-3 x Dark Fragments Dazzi Noct1 x Dark Fragment Kitsun Noct1-2 x Dark Fragments Starryon (Midnight Blue Mane; Boss)1-2 x Dark Fragments Rampaging Starryon (Predator Pal)1-2 x Dark Fragments Omascul (Hundred-Faced Apostle; Boss)1-2 x Dark Fragments Splatterina (Crismon Butcher; Boss)2-3 x Dark Fragments Dazzi Noct (Born of the Thunderclouds; Boss)1 x Dark Fragment Kitsun Noct (Guardian of the Dark Flame; Boss)1-2 x Dark Fragments Rampaging Omascul (Predator Pal)1-2 x Dark Fragments Rampaging Splatterina (Predator Pal)2-3 x Dark Fragments

While less reliable, single Dark Fragments may randomly appear on Feybreak. Thorough exploration is encouraged, though remember that frequent combat depletes ammunition, a resource best conserved for significant challenges like Bjorn, the island's formidable Tower Boss.

Utilizing Dark Fragments in Palworld

Dark Fragments, though not overly abundant, are crucial for specific high-tier items. Primarily, they're used in crafting saddles, accessories for certain Pals, and enhanced boots for the player character.

The following items require Dark Fragments. Remember to unlock the schematics in the Technology Menu (or Ancient Technology Menu) using Technology Points and ensure you have the necessary machines and resources:
