Embark on your *Avowed* adventure by choosing from a diverse, yet limited, selection of races within Eora's rich fantasy world, inherited from the *Pillars of Eternity* series. While the world boasts a vibrant tapestry of Kith races, your character creation options are somewhat constrained. Let's explore your playable choices:
Humans, or Folk as they're known in *Avowed*, are the most common race, reflecting their prevalence in the game and character creator. As part of the broader Kith group, they offer extensive customization options. Expect a wide variety of facial presets, a comprehensive skin tone slider, and diverse hair textures, ensuring players can create a character that truly represents them.
Elves provide another playable race option. Visually similar to humans, they are distinguished by subtly different facial structures and, of course, their characteristic long, pointed ears.
Technically a third playable race, though all Envoys are Godlike in the narrative. Players can choose to emphasize or downplay Godlike features. These features offer unique hair and facial options, ranging from subtle to strikingly surreal. At launch, *Avowed* provides 14 Godlike facial features and four hair styles, available to all characters regardless of race or body type.
The *Avowed* character creator offers four body types: two masculine and two feminine, available for both Humans and Elves. Two masculine and two feminine voice options are also available. Furthermore, players can select their character's pronouns (he, she, or they), providing a personalized experience.
While the world of *Avowed* is populated by a diverse array of Kith, including Dwarves, semi-aquatic Aumaua, and the diminutive, hairy Orlans, these races are currently unavailable for player character creation. However, future updates or DLC may expand character customization options.
This concludes our overview of playable races in *Avowed*. For further character creation details, check out our guide on available backgrounds.
