Pokémon Go developer Niantic has been acquired by Scopely, the creators of Monopoly Go, in a staggering $3.5 billion deal. This acquisition brings Niantic's popular portfolio of games, including Pokémon Go, Pikmin Bloom, Monster Hunter Now, and Peridot, under Scopely's umbrella.
This is significant news for the mobile gaming world. While Niantic's branded games join Scopely (and parent company Savvy Games Group), Niantic's AR technology division will operate independently as Niantic Spatial, retaining Ingress Prime and Peridot. For players, service disruptions are expected to be minimal.

Given the success of Pikmin Bloom and Monster Hunter Now, alongside the continued dominance of Pokémon Go, significant disruptions to these games are unlikely. However, the long-term effects on the mobile gaming landscape remain to be seen. This could be a pivotal moment.
