Pokemon Company Addresses Prismatic Evolutions Shortage in TCG

The Pokémon Company has officially addressed the widespread shortages of the eagerly anticipated Scarlet and Violet — Prismatic Evolutions set, expressing gratitude to Pokémon TCG fans for their patience. This acknowledgment marks the first time the company has publicly discussed the issues surrounding this upcoming expansion, which was initially announced in early November 2024 and set for an international release on January 17, 2025.

Despite the excitement surrounding Prismatic Evolutions, which was meant to kick off the new year with a bang for Pokémon TCG enthusiasts, the set has faced significant supply challenges globally, including in the United States. In response to weeks of fan feedback and complaints on social media, The Pokémon Company issued a statement to IGN, recognizing the shortage and the difficulty fans have faced in securing the new products. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," a company spokesperson stated.

Pokémon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Reprints Are Coming Soon

To tackle the shortages, The Pokémon Company is currently producing reprints of Prismatic Evolutions, which are expected to reach licensed distributors in the near future. While no specific timeline was provided, the company is committed to resolving the issue swiftly. Although some fans have pointed fingers at scalpers, The Pokémon Company attributes the shortages to "high demand" without further elaboration.

More Pokémon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Products Are Also on the Horizon

In addition to the reprints, The Pokémon Company has teased the release of new Prismatic Evolutions products in the coming months. These were initially mentioned during the set's announcement in November 2024. Fans can look forward to a variety of new items, including a Mini Tin and Surprise Box set to debut on February 7, 2025. Following these, a Booster Bundle and Accessory Pouch Special Collection will be available on March 7 and April 25, respectively. The Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection is slated for May 16, and a Premium Figure Collection will follow on September 26. For those eager to try out the new cards, the Pokémon TCG Live mobile game will start awarding Prismatic Evolutions cards through its Battle Pass beginning January 16, 2025.
