A Japanese YouTuber has achieved a remarkable feat in Pokémon TCG Pocket, accumulating an impressive collection of 50,000 cards by consistently purchasing the maximum daily amount of Poké Gold since the game's launch. Let's delve into this incredible accomplishment and the exciting McDonald's collaboration!
Hajimesyacho, a popular Japanese YouTuber known for diverse content ranging from product reviews to vlogs and challenges, proudly announced his 50,000-card milestone on Twitter (X). Since the game's October 30, 2024 launch, he's purchased the daily maximum of 720 Poké Gold, costing approximately $100 per day. Over the game's 85-day lifespan, this amounts to an estimated $8,500—excluding any potential savings from sales events during the launch period and holiday season.
This dedication showcases his commitment to completing his collection, encompassing cards from the Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island booster packs, as well as limited-time promotional cards. The recently released "Pokedex" Trainer card, awarded for the global collection of 40 billion cards, is a testament to this massive undertaking.
The Pokémon Company surprised fans on January 21, 2025, announcing a collaboration with McDonald's. Pokémon-themed Happy Meals now include collectible physical cards and in-game items for Pokémon TCG Pocket. Fifteen unique physical cards, featuring Pokémon like Miraidon, Roaring Moon, and Rayquaza (seven of which are holographic), are randomly included. Additionally, TCG Pocket players can redeem 24 Pack Hourglasses and 12 Hourglasses for opening booster packs and utilizing the Wonder Pick feature.
Four distinct Happy Meal box designs, showcasing popular dragon-type Pokémon such as Charizard, Rayquaza, Roaring Moon, and Dragonite alongside Pikachu, add to the excitement. These limited-time offers are available at participating McDonald's locations until supplies last. Remember, in-game rewards expire on March 31, 2025!
On January 17, 2025, Pokémon TCG Pocket announced details of its upcoming trading feature on Twitter (X). Trading will initially be limited to friends with cards of matching rarity (1-4 diamonds and 1-star). Rarer cards, such as Special Illustration Rare, Immersive, and Crown Rares, will not be tradable. A consumable item, similar to Stardust in Pokémon GO, will facilitate trades.
While cards from the Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island booster packs are initially available for trading, the developers have assured players that the selection will expand based on player feedback and a balance between ease of collecting and gameplay enjoyment. A new booster pack is also teased for release in January, with the exact date yet to be revealed.
