Ratatan is a collaborative effort between Hiroyuki Kotani, the creator of Patapon, and Kemmei Adachi, the original Patapon composer. The game's successful Kickstarter campaign, launched in 2023, has already surpassed its console launch stretch goal, guaranteeing its release on various platforms.

Closed Beta Commences February 27, 2025

According to a post on the Ratatan Kickstarter page, the closed beta test will begin on February 27, 2025. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared exciting updates on the game's progress and upcoming milestones.

He revealed that Ratatan has amassed over 100,000 wishlists on Steam and received positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. However, the game will not be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, as the team is prioritizing the closed beta. A refined demo is planned for the June Steam Next Fest.

Sakajiri provided details about the closed beta's content. The initial build will include Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 added during the month-long test period. He also noted, "The distribution of codes, start date, and time will be announced via Discord and X as soon as they are confirmed."

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A specific release date is yet to be announced.
