A Perfect Day Pocket – Go back to 1999 is the latest addition to Android by Littoral Games, the creators behind the cozy titles Growing Up and Chinese Parents. If you're familiar with their previous works, you'll find the same comforting atmosphere in this game. The art style mirrors that of Growing Up, featuring water-coloured hand-painted visuals that are expressive enough to tell the story on their own.
During its launch week, from February 27th to March 5th, A Perfect Day – Go back to 1999 is available for just $1.99. After the promotional period, the price will increase to $2.99 on Android. If you pre-registered for the game, don't forget to claim your exclusive Panda Quake Mini 4WD by visiting Brother Cao at the Youth Palace. Additionally, a limited-time Easter egg, the Old Uniform, awaits in ‘My Bedroom’ until March 26th.
True to its name, A Perfect Day – Go back to 1999 transports you back to the year 1999, a signature move for Littoral Games that specializes in nostalgic narratives set in the 90s and early 2000s. In this game, you step into the shoes of an elementary schoolboy caught in a time-loop, reminiscent of Groundhog Day, reliving the last day of 1999—December 31st.
Throughout the game's seven time segments, you'll encounter eleven main characters and engage with twenty event cards, alongside one free DLC. Your mission is to uncover secrets about your classmates, friends, and family, and help them achieve their 'perfect day' within the loop.
The core of A Perfect Day – Go back to 1999 revolves around memories, regrets, and the impact of your choices. You have the opportunity to revisit childhood friendships, delve into the lives of your young parents, and make decisions that alter the narrative. The story unfolds in an interconnected manner, offering different endings as you relive the same day.
To enhance the nostalgic 90s experience, the game includes several mini-games such as a Mini 4WD race, a Gamicom console, and an arcade. With its engaging interactive storytelling and evocative visuals, A Perfect Day – Go back to 1999 is definitely worth exploring.
