Respawn Cancels Titanfall Universe Multiplayer Shooter

A recent report from a former employee’s LinkedIn post has revealed that a Titanfall project has been unexpectedly canceled this week, despite being in development for several years. No official explanation has been given by Respawn Entertainment regarding the decision to halt production.

Last year, industry insider Jeff Grubb noted that the now-canceled title was not intended to be a core entry in the Titanfall series—specifically, it was not Titanfall 3. Instead, the game was being developed by a dedicated "experimental team" within Respawn, composed of developers with strong backgrounds in multiplayer shooter design.

This is not the first time Respawn has pulled the plug on a Titanfall-related concept. Last year, another offshoot titled Titanfall Legends—an arcade-style shooter—was also shut down during development.

The Titanfall franchise has long been praised for its fast-paced gameplay and seamless integration of pilot-based combat and mech warfare. Since the release of the original title in 2014, the series has stood out for its energetic movement mechanics, parkour-style traversal, and intense squad-based engagements.

At the moment, Respawn’s focus appears to have shifted toward other high-profile ventures. The studio is currently working on *Star Wars Jedi: Survivor*, the third installment in the acclaimed Star Wars Jedi series, as well as an upcoming strategy title set in the Star Wars universe, being co-developed with Bit Reactor.
