Our globetrotting writer Anderson Han can now celebrate as one of his top picks for Korean mobile releases, Trickcal Re:Vive, is gearing up for a global launch. Developer Bilibili Games made quite the impact at the Taipei Games Show, not just with the announcement of the global launch but with an array of engaging showcases.
So, what exactly is Trickcal Re:Vive? This isn't your typical mobile game; it's a turn-based card-collecting RPG that breaks away from the usual melodramatic storylines. Set in an absurdist universe, you step into the shoes of a protagonist who unexpectedly finds themselves leading a global religion. The game boasts a roster of over fifty apostles you can recruit, adding depth and variety to your journey.
Despite its epic scope, Trickcal Re:Vive doesn't take itself too seriously. It injects humor into the gameplay, featuring animesque tropes of adorable characters and playful nods to popular titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Grand Theft Auto. The game also weaves in a plethora of both sublime and hilariously absurd subplots.
Rev up your engines The Taipei Games Show was the perfect stage for Trickcal Re:Vive to showcase its over-the-top absurdity. A specially wrapped Ferrari Itasha drove lucky guests around Taipei, accompanied by an abundance of merchandise. These elements, combined with the global launch announcement, signal that Bilibili and Epid Games have high expectations for the game's success on global storefronts.
As for the release date, we're still in the dark. All we know is that a global release is in the works, with development continuing. While it's hard to pinpoint an exact date, my best guess would be a late 2025 or early 2026 launch, though a mid-2025 release isn't out of the question.
