Rockstar Games Features Danny Dyer's New Film

by Max Mar 13,2025

Rockstar Games' recent X (formerly Twitter) post promoting the film Marching Powder and its star, Danny Dyer, likely left many scratching their heads. Why would a company with 21 million followers promote a relatively small British film? Let's unravel the mystery.

Who is Danny Dyer?

For those unfamiliar, Daniel John Dyer, or Danny Dyer as he's known, is a highly recognizable East London actor. In the UK, he's a veritable legend, a term best understood through the Urban Dictionary's definition: "A person who embodies the pinnacle of all the important social aspects. Funny, reckless, original, and sensitive in the right measures." His career, spanning since 1993, has seen him portray numerous rough-around-the-edges working-class characters, a persona mirrored by his outspoken public image and "tough uncle" approach to life. His vibrant social media presence further solidifies his larger-than-life personality.

Dyer's Connection to Rockstar

Even if you're not familiar with Dyer, you've likely heard his voice in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. He voiced Kent Paul, manager of the band Love Fist in GTA: Vice City, and later the Gurning Chimps in GTA: San Andreas. However, his deeper connection to Rockstar stems from the 2004 film The Football Factory, directed by Nick Love and produced by Rockstar Games. This marks a unique foray into feature film production for the gaming giant.

Marching Powder, Dyer and Love's latest collaboration, shares thematic similarities with The Football Factory, including football hooliganism, heavy drinking, drug use, and a distinctly British dark humor. While Rockstar isn't involved in Marching Powder's production, their X post likely stems from their past association with Dyer and Love through The Football Factory.

Kent Paul's Return in GTA 6?

The possibility of Kent Paul appearing in GTA 6 is purely speculative. The Grand Theft Auto universe is divided into distinct 3D and HD eras, with minimal crossover. However, elements from the 3D universe, including characters like Lazlo and gang affiliations, have appeared in later games. Kent Paul's presence on the Vinewood Walk of Fame hints at a potential future appearance, though Rockstar's Marching Powder post offers no concrete evidence.
