Rome: Total War's Feral Interactive port receives major new Imperium update

by Layla Mar 22,2025

Feral Interactive, renowned for its masterful mobile ports, is significantly upgrading its mobile version of Creative Assembly's Rome: Total War. The new "Imperium" update delivers a wealth of new mechanics and quality-of-life improvements, bringing the experience closer to the PC remaster. While not identical, many features mirror those found in the PC remaster, enhancing gameplay without sacrificing the mobile experience.

Experienced players will appreciate the addition of Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection, features previously introduced in Feral's Medieval II port. However, the update benefits both veterans and newcomers alike with the inclusion of Command Slowdown, a feature common in newer Total War titles. This allows for more precise strategic decisions during complex maneuvers by slowing down gameplay while issuing orders.

Perhaps the most exciting addition is the introduction of keyboard and mouse support for Android and iOS devices. This allows players to utilize familiar desktop controls, significantly enhancing the tactical control and overall experience of playing the original Rome: Total War on mobile. The Imperium update is available now, bringing a host of gameplay and quality-of-life improvements.
