When it comes to iOS puzzlers, the selection is vast and varied. But it's the newly released games that often catch our eye, bringing unique and intriguing experiences to the genre. One such game is the rerelease of an oddball classic from iOS, Runes: Puzzle, now available on the platform.
In Runes: Puzzle, the core gameplay is straightforward yet engaging. You control a red cuboid block, navigating it across a map by flipping it to move from square to square. The objective is to collect other run-engraved blocks while avoiding various obstacles and tackling map-specific challenges. Similar to another recent iOS puzzler, Link All, the true test comes from the unique twists on this seemingly simple formula.
The game features four distinct worlds, each with its own mechanics, and over 70 levels in total, plus five additional challenges. This variety ensures there's plenty to keep players engaged and entertained.
Although the original developer was somewhat secretive about this being a rerelease, the revamped version of Runes: Puzzle looks promising. However, the success of the game hinges on whether the gameplay can sustain player interest. While the constant flipping of blocks might become tedious over time, the different mechanics introduced in each of the four worlds could offer refreshing twists that make it worth exploring.
If Runes: Puzzle doesn't quite capture your interest, why not explore our ranking of the top 25 best puzzle games for Android and iOS?
