Secret Fighter Added to Mortal Kombat 1 with Rock Legend Nod

This week, Mortal Kombat 1 received a major update that thrilled fans by introducing Conan the Barbarian to the roster of fighters. However, the update held a surprising secret: a new, unannounced character named Floyd, a ninja dressed in pink. While it might seem like a playful addition, Floyd is a legitimate secret fighter within the game.

Floyd is an homage to the iconic rock band, drawing inspiration from the cover of Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon," which famously depicts the dispersion of light into a spectrum of colors. In terms of gameplay, Floyd is a versatile fighter, borrowing moves from other well-known ninjas. He can freeze opponents like Sub-Zero and use spears reminiscent of Scorpion's iconic attacks. Adding to his uniqueness, Floyd starts with exactly 1337 health points, a nod to the internet slang for "elite."

For long-time fans of the franchise, Floyd's inclusion might evoke a sense of déjà vu, reminiscent of Reptile's introduction in the original Mortal Kombat game. Reptile, another secret fighter, was notoriously difficult to defeat and his moveset was a compilation of other ninjas' abilities.

Currently, the Mortal Kombat community is actively searching for ways to consistently trigger encounters with Floyd, as his appearances seem to be somewhat random. Although Floyd provides hints about the challenges needed to unlock him, a full confirmation on how to reliably access him has yet to be established.
