Shift Up Reports Record Year, PC Sales to Surpass PS5

by Connor Apr 25,2025

Shift Up, the developer behind the acclaimed action role-playing game Stellar Blade, has reported a financially record-breaking year, thanks in large part to the success of their latest title. According to the 2024 financial report released by the company, as reported by Game World Observer, Shift Up achieved a staggering revenue of $151.4 million, marking a significant 30.4% increase from the previous year. A key contributor to this success was Stellar Blade, which generated $43.2 million in royalties alone.

The momentum for Stellar Blade shows no signs of waning. Shift Up has expressed optimism about the upcoming PC version, predicting that it will outsell the original PlayStation 5 release, particularly in the Asian market. This anticipation is fueled by the game's strong performance on the console, where it quickly sold a million copies and received a 7/10 rating from IGN. In our review, we noted, "Stellar Blade excels in all the most crucial aspects of an action game, yet its dull characters, lackluster story, and several frustrating RPG mechanics keep it from reaching the heights of the genre's best."

Looking ahead, Shift Up is not resting on its laurels. The company plans to unveil its new project, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. This new game was announced shortly after Stellar Blade's PS5 launch in 2024, suggesting a shift in focus before the momentum for a Stellar Blade sequel could fully develop. However, Shift Up has hinted at the possibility of creating another game in the Stellar Blade franchise, keeping fans hopeful for a continuation of Eve's story as she battles unknown invaders to reclaim Earth in the game's fast-paced combat.
