Silent Hill f: March 2025 Transmission Reveals All

by Grace Jun 10,2025

Konami has unveiled its latest *Silent Hill Transmission*, and this time, the spotlight is firmly on *Silent Hill f*—the highly anticipated new installment in the iconic horror franchise. Set in 1960s Japan, *Silent Hill f* promises a deeply atmospheric and emotionally charged journey through one of gaming's most haunting worlds.

Originally announced in 2022, *Silent Hill f* was described as a game that would immerse players in a “beautiful, therefore terrifying” environment. The narrative is being penned by Ryukisshi07, the celebrated Japanese visual novel writer known for crafting intricate stories in the *Higurashi* and *Umineko* series—a detail that has only heightened anticipation among fans of psychological horror.

After nearly three years of waiting, Konami has finally shared a wealth of new details about the game. Below is everything we know so far about this mysterious entry in the *Silent Hill* universe.

PlaySilent Hill f: Finding Beauty in Terror Through a Chilling Choice

Konami released a brand-new trailer during the *Silent Hill Transmission*, offering a glimpse into the eerie world of *Silent Hill f*. The game aims to “find the beauty in terror,” presenting players with a uniquely unsettling experience set in a meticulously recreated 1960s Japanese town.

While specific plot details remain under wraps, Konami did share some context on the protagonist’s harrowing journey:

“Shimizu Hinkao was living her life as an ordinary teenager. That is, until her town is suddenly shrouded in fog and begins to change in a horrific way. Now, she must explore a town she no longer recognizes while solving puzzles, fighting strange enemies, and doing everything she can to survive… in order to face the ultimate decision that she must make. This is a tale about a beautiful yet terrifying choice.”

*Silent Hill f* is designed as a standalone story, making it an accessible entry point for newcomers. However, long-time fans will also find hidden nods and Easter Eggs scattered throughout the game. The setting itself takes place in the fictional town of Ebisugaoka, inspired by Kanayama in Gero, Gifu Prefecture—a real-world location reimagined through the lens of Silent Hill’s signature dread.

Designing the Horror: A Fresh Take on a Familiar Nightmare

Creature and character designer Kera offered insight into the creative process behind the game’s visuals, emphasizing the challenge of crafting something both fresh and faithful to the series’ legacy:

“I love the *Silent Hill* series, and it's been a big influence on me. In particular, I am constantly remembering *Silent Hill 2*, and the messages on the walls, the music, and the monster designs. So, when it came to *Silent Hill f*, and bringing the setting to Japan, we had to come up with something that felt just a little different, and I had to really think about how to get that feeling.”

Kera elaborated on the difficulty of designing the game’s creatures, balancing innovation with the classic *Silent Hill* aesthetic:

“The monster designs were the hardest. I had to consider everything that's come in *Silent Hill* before, and figure out how to take this game in a different direction, but still be *Silent Hill*. It might not be the exact same blood-smeared, rusting scenery, but I sincerely hope you'll enjoy our vision and the world we've created.”

PlayA Haunting Soundscape: Music Designed to Evoke Emotion

Music plays a crucial role in shaping the tone of any *Silent Hill* title, and *Silent Hill f* is no exception. The soundtrack features contributions from two acclaimed composers: Akira Yamaoka, known for his work on earlier entries in the series, and Kensuke Inage, whose credits include the *Dynasty Warriors* franchise.

Yamaoka is responsible for scoring the Fog World, while Inage composed the music for the Otherworld—each aiming to reflect the emotional and psychological tension experienced by the protagonist.

“I have composed music for an unsettling yet beautiful world that uses imagery from shrines, blending ancient Japanese court music with ambient echoes,” Inage explained. “I wove in various techniques that will connect the player to the protagonist's agony, internal conflict, fear, and other emotions.”

Platform Availability

Although no official release date has been revealed, Konami confirmed that *Silent Hill f* will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, ensuring a wide reach for fans eager to step into this chilling new chapter of the *Silent Hill* saga.
