Fans of Hollow Knight: Silksong have something to look forward to as the highly anticipated game is set to make an appearance in a unique format. A playable version of the game will be available at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI) during an upcoming exhibition titled Game Worlds. This exhibit will kick off on September 18, 2025, and run until February 8, 2026.
As part of the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to explore several iconic video games, including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and Hollow Knight: Silksong. Each title will feature custom builds that showcase original design materials, concept art, and other notable elements. According to ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell, the inclusion of Silksong highlights its status as one of the most eagerly awaited indie games globally. They expressed excitement over featuring this South Australian-made masterpiece in the exhibit.
The playable version of Silksong at ACMI is expected to differ significantly from the proof-of-concept demo shown at E3 in 2019. The exhibit aims to delve into various aspects of the game’s development, from Hornet's intricate animations to the strategic depth of its challenging boss battles. Additionally, it will provide insights into the artistic vision and technical design choices behind the sequel to Hollow Knight.
While the presence of Silksong at ACMI has sparked speculation about its potential release timeline, no official word has been released regarding its actual launch date. Although the game was confirmed to release in 2025 during the recent Switch 2 Direct presentation, fans remain hopeful that it might debut during the exhibition period or shortly thereafter. Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated to arrive on platforms such as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
