10-Minute Trailer Showcases New Characters and Gameplay

At SXSW 2025 in Austin, Texas, on March 9th, Kojima Productions and Sony revealed the release date of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (DS2). The panel kicked off with a captivating 10-minute trailer offering glimpses into the game's story and gameplay. DS2 appears to continue the series' exploration of human connection in a post-apocalyptic world.

Director Hideo Kojima was joined by PlayStation's Kristen Zitan, along with returning actors Norman Reedus (Sam Porter Bridges), Troy Baker, and Woodkid. The trailer also introduced a new character, Neil (played by Luca Marinelli), leading a mysterious faction. Neil's striking resemblance to Solid Snake, particularly with his headband, hasn't gone unnoticed by fans.

This resemblance was even foreshadowed by Kojima himself in a July 2020 Instagram post, noting Marinelli's uncanny likeness to Solid Snake when wearing a bandana. Regardless of the visual similarities, Neil's faction promises to be a significant element in Death Stranding 2.
