DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO's early access release has introduced a formidable foe: Great Ape Vegeta. This colossal ape is proving to be an unexpectedly challenging boss, leaving players bruised and bewildered.
Boss battles are designed to be tough, but Great Ape Vegeta transcends "difficult," reaching legendary levels of frustration. His brutal attacks and seemingly unstoppable combos are leaving even seasoned players struggling. The situation has become so widespread that Bandai Namco themselves are joining in the meme-fest, acknowledging the widespread difficulty.
The sheer devastation unleashed by Great Ape Vegeta's Galick Gun and powerful grab attacks turns the fight into a desperate survival test. Players often find themselves restarting the battle at the mere sight of his charging Galick Gun. This is especially true for newcomers to Dragon Ball fighting games, as Goku's Episode Battle throws players into this intense encounter early on.
Instead of a quick fix, Bandai Namco's UK Twitter account embraced the player outcry with a humorous tweet: "This monke got hands," accompanied by a GIF showcasing Great Ape Vegeta's overwhelming power. This lighthearted response highlights the game's undeniable difficulty.
It's worth noting that Great Ape Vegeta has a history of being a challenging opponent in Dragon Ball fighting games. Veterans may recall similar struggles in the original Budokai Tenkaichi games.
Great Ape Vegeta isn't the only hurdle. Even on Normal difficulty, CPU opponents unleash devastating combos, and Super difficulty presents an almost unfair advantage for the AI. Many players are resorting to lowering the difficulty to Easy to progress.
Despite the intense challenges posed by Great Ape Vegeta and the overall difficulty, DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO has stormed onto Steam. Within hours of early access, it reached a peak of 91,005 concurrent players, surpassing other fighting game giants like Street Fighter, Tekken, and Mortal Kombat.
This success is largely attributed to the game's revival of the beloved Budokai Tenkaichi style. Game8 awarded the game a 92 score, praising its extensive roster, stunning visuals, and engaging scenarios. For a more in-depth review, check out our full article!
