"Spider-Verse Star Yet to Record Lines"

by Emma Apr 24,2025

Fans eager for the next installment in the Spider-Verse saga may have to wait longer than anticipated, as Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has revealed that production for the third film, Beyond the Spider-Verse, has yet to begin. Jerome, who plays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42 in the series, shared with Decider that he hasn't even recorded any lines for the movie yet. He emphasized that many aspects of the project are still "being figured out," hinting at a delay in the film's production.

While some fans might have hoped for a quicker turnaround, the gap between the first film and the second, which spanned five years, set a precedent for a longer wait. Jerome's response to inquiries about the start of production was a straightforward "No, I wish," underscoring the ongoing preparations for the anticipated finale.

Jerome's character had a smaller role in Across the Spider-Verse but is poised to play a significant part in Beyond the Spider-Verse. In the second film's climactic scenes, Jerome's Miles G. Morales from Earth-42 emerges not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler. This alternate version of Miles had a drastically different life trajectory; the radioactive spider meant for him ended up in another reality, biting the protagonist Miles instead. Consequently, Miles G. Morales never became Spider-Man, and after the death of his universe's Peter Parker, he turned to villainy as the Prowler, aligning with the supervillains ruling his New York.

The narrative clash between this Miles and the main Miles, who did become Spider-Man, is expected to be a central theme in Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans will need to exercise patience as the film's release is not slated until at least 2026, according to Deadline. If the series follows the release pattern established between the first and second films, we might not see Beyond the Spider-Verse until 2028.
