"Split Fiction Reaches 2 Million Sales in One Week"

by Mia Apr 13,2025

Hazelight Games has announced that their latest cooperative adventure game, Split Fiction, has continued its impressive start by selling 2 million copies within just one week of its release. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game has quickly established itself as another triumph for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they are "blown away" by the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.

The studio previously shared that Split Fiction reached 1 million sales just 48 hours after its launch, indicating that an additional million copies were sold in the subsequent five days. This rapid sales growth underscores the game's appeal and the engaging narrative centered around protagonists Mio and Zoe in a sci-fi setting.

As a cooperative game, Split Fiction likely has a player base that significantly exceeds the number of copies sold, thanks to its innovative Friend's Pass feature. This feature allows one player to buy the game and invite a friend to play for free, enhancing its reach and impact within the gaming community. With the game continuing to generate buzz on social media, the sales figures are expected to climb even higher.

Hazelight's previous title, 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, followed a similar trajectory. It sold around 1 million copies shortly after its launch in March 2021, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and an impressive 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's review of Split Fiction, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," highlighting its dynamic and versatile gameplay experience.
