Stardew Valley Creator Gives Update on Upcoming Switch Patch

Summary

  • ConcernedApe is addressing the Nintendo Switch version of Stardew Valley's divorce crash and raccoon shop glitches.
  • A Nintendo Switch patch resolving these issues is forthcoming.
  • These problems have already been fixed on PC, console, and mobile platforms.

Stardew Valley developer ConcernedApe recently announced via social media that a Nintendo Switch patch addressing the game's divorce crash and raccoon shop bugs is imminent. While these issues have been resolved across PC, mobile, and other consoles, the Switch update remains in development.

Since its 2016 release, Stardew Valley has consistently evolved through numerous updates and patches. Its charming pixel art, relaxing gameplay, and quirky mechanics have cemented its enduring popularity. ConcernedApe's commitment extends to regular content additions and prompt bug fixes based on community feedback. A persistent issue, now nearing resolution on Switch, was addressed in a December update.

ConcernedApe confirmed on Twitter that the patch addressing the divorce crash and raccoon shop problems is "still coming," though a specific release date remains unannounced. The developer assures players it will be released as soon as possible. These issues, among others, emerged following the launch of update 1.6 and have already been resolved on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. An earlier tweet around Christmas confirmed the Switch patch was under development.

Stardew Valley's extensive update 1.6, released on PC in March, introduced a wealth of new content. This included personalized gift reactions from NPCs, the Meadowlands Farm, and new festivals and events. Visual enhancements such as waterfalls, holiday decorations, and seasonal map variations were also included.

While update 1.6 addressed many existing issues, subsequent patches inadvertently introduced new problems. The console and mobile versions received update 1.6 in November, but players quickly reported several issues, including critical game-breaking bugs. A swift emergency patch for the mobile version was released on November 15th, while fixes for other platforms continued.

The Stardew Valley community praises ConcernedApe's transparent communication and responsiveness to player concerns. Although the Switch patch addressing the divorce crash and raccoon shop problems isn't yet available, players can be confident in the developer's commitment to a timely release.
