"Surviving Jedi Ranked Post-Order 66"

by Harper Jun 16,2025

This month celebrates the 20th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, the final installment in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. Released on May 19, 2005, it marked the last Star Wars film directly overseen by George Lucas before he sold Lucasfilm to Disney seven years later.

Going into Revenge of the Sith, fans already knew they would witness Anakin Skywalker’s tragic fall to the Dark Side and transformation into Darth Vader. However, a lingering mystery was what truly became of the rest of the Jedi Order. The film’s chilling answer came in the form of Order 66, a cunning element of Palpatine’s grand scheme. With this directive, the Clone Troopers—who had fought alongside the Jedi during the Clone Wars—were suddenly programmed to betray and execute their former allies.

Given that there were thousands of Jedi at the time, it's logical to assume not all were eliminated. While only a few Jedi seen in the Original Trilogy were known to have survived, many others escaped the purge across the galaxy. Since then, canon Star Wars stories have introduced dozens of such survivors, each with their own unique journey. Among these, we’ve selected and ranked the top 10 Jedi who made the most significant impact after surviving Order 66. Some lived only briefly beyond the fall of the Republic, while others endured much longer—some even remain unaccounted for to this day. Regardless, each one managed to survive that infamous command: “Execute Order 66.”

Criteria for Selection

To qualify for this list, characters must have been affiliated with the Jedi Order prior to Order 66. This includes those who trained as Padawans, Jedi Knights, or Masters, as well as young Initiates still undergoing training. Therefore, Force-users like Maul or figures such as Jod Na Nawood—who received some Jedi instruction but were never officially accepted into the Order—are excluded.

There was some debate about whether Asajj Ventress should be included. She trained under Jedi Master Ky Narec on Rattatak and was regarded by him as his Padawan. However, she never visited the Jedi Temple or interacted with the Jedi Council. Additionally, her eventual embrace of the Dark Side complicates her status. For now, consider her an honorable mention.

Now, let’s dive into the ranking of the most impactful Jedi who lived to fight another day after Order 66.
