A Coastal Village on the Continent

Netflix's Witcher Animated Movie Arrives in FebruaryNetflix Tudum, the official Netflix news source, announced The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, debuting February 11, 2025. This animated film adapts Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," from Sword of Destiny.

The story unfolds in a coastal village where a centuries-old conflict between humans and merfolk compels a kingdom to enlist the aid of a Witcher. Instead of the usual monsters, Geralt faces a unique challenge – battling merpeople.

Returning to voice Geralt is Doug Cockle. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer, respectively. Christina Wren (Will Trent) joins the cast as the new character, Essi Daven.

Andrzej Sapkowski acts as a creative consultant, while Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (writers for the live-action series) penned the screenplay. Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs the film.

A Story Set Within Witcher Season 1

Netflix's Witcher Animated Movie Arrives in FebruaryThe film's timeline fits neatly between episodes 5 and 6 of The Witcher's first season. Following Geralt and Yennefer's reunion in Rinde after the Djinn incident, Geralt is hired to address a monstrous threat near the coast.

The location is likely situated between Redania and Temeria, possibly Bremervoord City in Temeria, ruled by Duke Agloval, as suggested by "A Little Sacrifice." However, the extent to which the film adheres to the short story remains to be seen.
