Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 4090 Gaming PC Now Under $3,000

by Oliver May 27,2025

High-end prebuilt PCs often come with hefty price tags, but savvy shoppers can save hundreds of dollars by snagging a great deal. Currently, Dell is slashing $1,000 off the Alienware Aurora R16 GeForce RTX 4090 gaming PC, bringing the price down to just $2,899.99. This is the first time in months that an RTX 4090 gaming PC has been available for under $3,000. Given that standalone RTX 4090 graphics cards are seeing price hikes and can cost at least $2,000 from reputable vendors, building your own PC might not be as cost-effective as you'd think. Plus, opting for a prebuilt PC like this one means you benefit from a comprehensive warranty.

This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC packs an Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU, a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 32GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The 14th gen Intel Core i9-14900KF stands out as the top Intel gaming CPU on the market and excels in productivity tasks too. While it runs hot, a robust 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler keeps it in check. The system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply, ensuring stable performance.

The RTX 4090 is the undisputed king of GPUs, outpacing all competitors from NVIDIA and AMD. In his review, Chris Coke noted, "The RTX 4090 may be huge and expensive, but holy smokes if it doesn’t blow the competition out of the water... Until the rest of the pack can catch up, between its impressive hardware specs and its DLSS 3 AI wizardry, even the $1,599 price doesn’t seem unreasonable for the unrivaled frame rates that this card can crank out." With this GPU, you can run any game at 4K resolution with ultra settings and ray tracing enabled, delivering high framerates even with the most demanding new titles like Black Myth: Wukong or Warhammer Space Marine 2. It's also the go-to consumer card for AI applications, thanks to its 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM.

A note on RTX 5000 series GPUs

NVIDIA is gearing up to release its next-gen GPUs at the end of January. While the RTX 5090 will undoubtedly offer superior performance, it will come with a steep price tag of $2,000 for the Founder's Edition and might be hard to find at launch. The RTX 5080, launching at $999, could also face availability issues. We'll benchmark these cards soon, but note that they'll have less VRAM (16GB) than the RTX 4090 (24GB) and may not immediately dethrone the 4090 as the top performer.

A note on Alienware's newest "R16" desktop chassis

The R16 is Alienware's sleek 2024 desktop PC design, boasting a 40% smaller volume than its predecessors. It features an effective airflow system, drawing air in through side intake vents over the GPU and a 120mm front fan, with exhaust via a 120mm rear fan and two 120mm top fans. The 240mm radiator for the all-in-one liquid cooling system mounts to these top fans. While some configurations omit the liquid cooling, we typically highlight those with it due to its superior performance over Alienware's air cooling options. Dell unveiled a new Area 51 chassis at CES 2025, but it closely resembles the R16 in design and appearance.
