Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 5080 Gaming PC Launched at $2,399

by Simon May 22,2025

Starting today, Dell is offering an incredible deal on the Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC, equipped with the new GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, for just $2,399.99, including shipping. This price point is exceptionally competitive, especially considering the steady price increases across other brands since the RTX 50 series launched in January. At Dell, the only other prebuilt option with an RTX 5080 GPU is priced over $4,000. For those considering a DIY PC build, sourcing a standalone RTX 5080 GPU could cost as much as this complete system.

$2,399.99 at Alienware

This Alienware Aurora R16 model boasts an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, a GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The Intel Core Ultra 7 265F, part of the Meteor Lake lineup, achieves a max turbo frequency of 5.3GHz with 20 cores and a 30MB cache. The system is cooled efficiently by a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a robust 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

The RTX 5080 is one of the latest Blackwell graphics cards, and as noted in our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review by Jackie, "If you already have a high-end graphics card from the last couple of years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 might not be the best upgrade – it offers minimal performance gains over the RTX 4080, though DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation does enhance visuals in supported games. However, for gamers with older graphics cards looking for a significant performance boost, the RTX 5080 delivers, especially if you're keen on Nvidia's AI enhancements."

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis design is similar to the 2024 R16 model but includes minor aesthetic and cooling updates along with refreshed internal components. The I/O panel is now located at the top of the case, and the tempered glass window extends the entire side panel, eliminating the need for side vents. Air intakes are positioned at the bottom and front of the case to promote a positive airflow design, reducing dust accumulation. The system features a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

RTX 5080 and 5090 GPUs Are Sold Out Everywhere

The initial release of Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards sold out within the first hour of preorders. The highest-end models, the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, were released first, followed by the RTX 5070 Ti in February. Prebuilt gaming PCs with these GPUs have also quickly become unavailable, either sold out, increased in price, or facing extended delivery times.
