Gear up, vault hunters! The excitement surrounding Borderlands 4 just got a massive boost with the announcement of a dedicated PlayStation State of Play, set to air today. PlayStation took to Twitter (X) on April 29 to confirm that fans can tune into the Borderlands 4 State of Play on April 30 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM BST / 11 PM CEST. You can catch all the action live on PlayStation's official YouTube and Twitch channels. Make sure to mark your calendars and set your alarms for the following times in your region:
During the livestream, expect Gearbox Software developers to dive deep into the upcoming FPS sequel, revealing over 20 minutes of "developer-guided gameplay." This includes insights into missions, killer weapons, exciting Action Skills, and a mix of new and returning characters. A PlayStation.blog post from April 29 promises an immersive experience that fans won't want to miss.
In a thrilling twist, Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford announced via a Twitter (X) video on April 29 that Borderlands 4's launch date has been moved up to September 12. Although Pitchford quickly deleted the initial video and followed up with a post admitting the premature reveal, the news was confirmed by Borderlands 4's official Twitter (X) account.
Pitchford's video highlighted the stellar progress of the game's development, stating, "everything’s going kinda the best scenario," which justified the decision to expedite the release. Initially, the game was slated for a September 23 launch, as revealed in the February State of Play. However, after rigorous meetings, playtesting, and incredible development efforts, the decision was made to move the launch date forward by two weeks.
The official Borderlands 4 Twitter (X) post celebrated the news, stating, "After careful consideration–along with A LOT of meetings, playtestings, and incredible development work–we have made the monumental decision to MOVE UP THE LAUNCH DATE OF BORDERLANDS 4 to SEPTEMBER 12."
Gearbox Software is promising that Borderlands 4 will be the greatest installment in the series yet. With the new release date, fans can look forward to exploring the brand-new planet of Kairos sooner than expected.
Mark your calendars: Borderlands 4 is set to blast off on September 12, 2025, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates and dive deeper into the world of Borderlands by checking out our related articles below!
