Microsoft has recently announced a price increase for Xbox consoles, controllers, and upcoming first-party games. The new prices for hardware are effective immediately, while the $79.99 price for new first-party games will take effect during the holiday season. If you're considering purchasing an Xbox Series X|S or a new controller, now is the time to act before the price hike kicks in. The updated prices are already reflected on Xbox’s official store, but you might still find the older, lower prices at some retailers for a limited time.
Xbox Series X - $499 (Going Up to $599 Soon)
Xbox Series X 1TB Digital Edition - $449 (Going Up to $549 Soon)
The Xbox Series X is the flagship Xbox console, boasting the power to run games at 4K resolution. As an avid gamer, I find the performance of my Xbox Series X to be superior, even compared to my PS5. I appreciate the option to buy and play physical games, which is why I recommend the standard model. However, if you're comfortable with an all-digital library, the digital edition offers a $50 saving.
Xbox Series S 512GB - $299 (Going Up to $379 Soon)
Xbox Series S 1TB - $349 (Going Up to $429 Soon)
For those ready to embrace an all-digital future, the Xbox Series S is an excellent choice. Keep in mind that it's designed for 1440p resolution rather than 4K, which might be a consideration depending on your setup. Given the large file sizes of modern games, I recommend opting for the 1TB model to avoid running out of storage space quickly.
Xbox Wireless Controller – Sky Cipher Special Edition - $60.96 (save 24% off $79.99) at Amazon
Several Xbox controllers are also seeing a price increase, though not all models are affected equally. The pricing of controllers has been more variable than that of the consoles, so the impact of the price hike might be less noticeable. Here are the new price points for Xbox controllers:
