Cow in Mario Kart World Enjoys Burgers, Steak

by Isaac May 22,2025

In a delightful break from the usual news cycle of tariffs and Nintendo Switch 2 pricing, IGN had the chance to dive into the fun world of Mario Kart World at a recent Nintendo event in New York. One of the standout revelations? The newly introduced Moo Moo Meadows Cow, now a playable character, can indeed indulge in a variety of foods, including burgers and steak.

For those out of the loop, Mario Kart World recently made waves with the announcement that the beloved Cow from Moo Moo Meadows would join the roster of racers. The internet has been buzzing with excitement, spawning numerous memes and fanart celebrating this charming addition to the game.

However, a curious detail from the Nintendo Direct 2 trailer sparked discussions among fans. In the trailer, Mario is seen enjoying a burger, raising questions about whether Cow, who hails from a species often associated with beef, would partake in such a meal. The curiosity was palpable: would Cow eat beef?

At the Nintendo preview event, IGN confirmed that Cow can indeed eat a wide array of foods available at Yoshi's diner locations throughout the courses. These diners operate much like drive-thrus, where racers can grab a bag of take-out, similar to picking up an item box. The menu boasts a variety of items, from burgers and steak kebabs to pizza and donuts.

During our play session, we witnessed Cow munching on everything from burgers to other items. While other characters transform upon consuming these foods, Cow doesn't seem to undergo any noticeable changes. This has led to speculation: Is Cow eating these items purely for enjoyment? Could there be a hidden power-up linked to her food consumption that Nintendo has yet to reveal? Or perhaps these are plant-based alternatives like veggie burgers and Beyond meat kebabs?

IGN reached out to Nintendo for clarification on this intriguing matter but has yet to receive a response. We suspect they're preoccupied with the New York event rather than dodging our, let's admit, somewhat quirky question.
