Dune: Awakening's open beta weekend has concluded, revealing a significant exploit that allows players to keep enemies stunned indefinitely. This article delves into the details of this game-altering bug and outlines Funcom's plans to address it before the official launch.
During the open beta weekend for Dune: Awakening, players were given access to the first 20-25 hours of gameplay along with various other features. The event culminated in a Global LAN Party livestream on May 10, where participants stumbled upon a critical exploit in PvP combat.
Dubbed the "stunlock exploit," this bug occurs when a player repeatedly uses quick knife attacks on an opponent who has depleted their stamina. The targeted player becomes unable to defend themselves, use abilities, or escape, effectively trapping them in a continuous state of stagger. This issue gained widespread attention during livestreams by popular gamers Tyler1 and Shroud, highlighting its impact on gameplay.
During the same Global LAN Party livestream, Funcom developers, including Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley, observed the stunlock exploit firsthand. They swiftly committed to resolving the issue prior to the game's official release.
Gagné reassured fans, stating, "We got this covered. It's not like 'Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.' It's already going away." The feedback gathered over the open beta weekend has been instrumental in refining the game for its upcoming launch.
Dune: Awakening is slated for release on June 10, 2025, for PC, with subsequent releases planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at a later, yet-to-be-announced date. Stay tuned for more updates by checking out our related articles below!
