"The Two Embers: Part One Unveils Sky: Children of the Light

As a fan of thatgamecompany's Sky: Children of the Light, I'm thrilled by the game's unique art style, captivating presentation, and compelling storyline. Now, thatgamecompany is pushing the boundaries even further with their first-ever in-game animated feature, The Two Embers. This innovative project is set to premiere a limited in-game screening of The Two Embers: Part One starting July 21st, offering players a silent animated feature that delves into the origin story of Sky.

A Bit More About the Story
The Two Embers unfolds in two parts, with Part One focusing on the journeys of two children, separated by time yet connected on a deeper level. The narrative begins with a young orphan living on the fringes of The Ruler's City, a once-thriving place now teetering on the edge of collapse. The story takes a poignant turn when the child discovers a wounded baby manatee, exploring themes of grief, loneliness, and the power of small acts of kindness. Above it all, The Ruler observes the kingdom's decline as a dark storm looms.

Without any dialogue or voiceovers, The Two Embers: Part One relies solely on visuals, music, and raw emotion to convey the child's grief and the manatee's glimmer of hope. thatgamecompany has released the first look at this captivating story, which you can watch right here:

Each week, a new chapter of the film will be unlocked within Sky Cinema, a specially built in-game movie theatre. Alongside these screenings, new in-game content related to each chapter will be available, allowing players to delve deeper into the story through interactive gameplay.

A Unique Way of Releasing an Animated Feature Within a Game
Rather than releasing The Two Embers as a standalone film or on a streaming platform, thatgamecompany is integrating it directly into Sky: Children of the Light. This approach not only enhances the gaming experience but elevates Sky beyond just a game. With the upcoming Aurora's concert and now a full-fledged animated feature, thatgamecompany is taking Sky to new heights in the realm of transmedia storytelling.

The Two Embers is produced by Light & Realm in collaboration with thatgamecompany, and co-produced by Illusorium Studios and Orchid. This ambitious project marks a significant milestone for thatgamecompany.
