How To Get Paradisan Ladder in Avowed

There are five primary methods to obtain Paradisan Ladder in *Avowed*: visiting Merylin the merchant in Paradise, discovering plants while exploring, receiving it as a reward from side quests, breaking down items infused with it, and downgrading Hylea’s Talon.

Merylin the Merchant

Purchasing from Merylin is the fastest and most reliable way to secure Paradisan Ladder in *Avowed*. She's conveniently located in South Paradise, as indicated on the map above. When you approach her for the first time, she'll mention her competition with her blacksmith sister nearby. You can then browse her inventory, where you'll find five units of Paradisan Ladder available for 150 coins each.

Additionally, Merylin sells two unique items that can be broken down for more Paradisan Ladder: the Many-Hued Doublet light armor and the Common Grimoire of Elements, each yielding two units. Note that her inventory does not replenish once sold out, even after resting at a party camp. Nevertheless, visiting Merylin remains the best option for a quick upgrade.

Paradisan Ladder can also be found while exploring *Avowed*'s wilderness and occasionally in urban areas like Paradis. Keep an eye out for the plant icon on your mini-map, as marked by the red circle above. Although Paradisan Ladder might be confused with other plant types, collecting any you find in your immediate vicinity during quest playthroughs is an excellent way to build your stockpile at no cost.

Side Quests

*Avowed*'s difficulty is partly designed to encourage engagement with side quests, which often reward Paradisan Ladder. For instance, the early side quest "Escape Plan," easily encountered during the main campaign, rewards you with crafting materials for upgrades, including two units of Paradisan Ladder. This additional grind not only provides you with more of the essential herb but also grants XP and other bonuses.

Breaking Down Items

In *Avowed*, breaking down items at your party camp workbench can yield core crafting materials like Softwood Branches, Pelts, and Iron Chunks. Higher-quality items upgraded with Paradisan Ladder can also be broken down to retrieve some of the material. For example, breaking down a Common Sword upgraded with Paradisan Ladder will return some of it for reuse. Check merchants' inventories for unique items that list Paradisan Ladder in their "Break Down" section.

If you've advanced in *Avowed*'s campaign to Emerald Stair and acquired Hylea’s Talon, you can downgrade it into three units of Paradisan Ladder each. To do this, head to your workbench at the party camp, switch to the "Crafting" tab, and select the "Upgrade Materials" section to downgrade. This method is particularly useful if you're looking to switch to a different weapon type that needs quick upgrading to match your current equipment level.
