Harrison Ford: 'Indiana Jones Proves AI Isn't Needed to Capture My Soul'

by Logan May 22,2025

Harrison Ford, the iconic actor behind Indiana Jones, has expressed his approval of Troy Baker's portrayal of the character in the video game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, Ford humorously remarked, "You don’t need artificial intelligence to steal my soul. You can already do it for nickels and dimes with good ideas and talent. He did a brilliant job, and it didn’t take AI to do it."

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, released in December, offers an "authentic" yet possibly non-canonical addition to the storied franchise. This comes on the heels of the 2023 film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which did not receive the warmest reception. Given the positive feedback on the game, the franchise's creators might consider further exploring this direction rather than having Ford reprise his role.

Ford, known for his roles in Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and soon in the Marvel universe, joins a chorus of creatives criticizing the use of AI in media. Tim Burton has called AI-generated art "very disturbing," and Nicolas Cage has labeled it a "dead end." Voice actors have also voiced their concerns, with Ned Luke from Grand Theft Auto 5 condemning a chatbot that used his voice, and The Witcher's Doug Cockle telling IGN that while AI is "inevitable," it's also "dangerous" and effectively robs voice actors of income.
