HoYoverse has sparked excitement among fans by filing a trademark for Honkai Nexus Anima, hinting at a potential new addition to the beloved Honkai series. This development suggests that miHoYo and its global arm, HoYoverse, are poised to expand their universe with a fresh title that could follow the successful footsteps of Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai Star Rail. Stay tuned as we delve into what this could mean for miHoYo's future projects.
HoYoverse is set to broaden the horizons of the Honkai universe with what might be the third installment in the series. The Chinese gaming giant, miHoYo, alongside its subsidiary HoYoverse, has filed a trademark for "Honkai Nexus Anima". While details are scarce, the name suggests a continuation of the Honkai saga that began with Honkai Impact 3rd and continued with Honkai Star Rail.
The application for Honkai Nexus Anima was initially spotted on the Korea Intellectual Property Information Search (KIPRIS) website, though it was later removed. However, the trademark remains visible on the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) website.
The Honkai series kicked off with Honkai Impact 3rd, a free-to-play mobile action RPG that succeeded Houkai Gakuen 2, a 2D side-scrolling shooter. Subsequently, in 2023, they launched Honkai Star Rail, another free-to-play mobile game, this time featuring turn-based combat. Despite their shared thematic elements and some character similarities, these games are set in distinct universes with unique narratives. Fans are buzzing with speculation that Honkai Nexus Anima might introduce a new genre to the series, reflecting miHoYo’s flair for diversity in game development.
In the wake of the trademark filings, keen-eyed fans have noticed the emergence of new Twitter (X) accounts named after Honkai Nexus Anima. Accounts such as "@HonkaiNA", "@HonkaiNA_RU", and "@HonkaiNA_FR" have surfaced, suggesting HoYoverse's efforts to secure usernames for consistent branding across various regions on social media platforms.
Earlier this year, miHoYo released several job listings that provided a glimpse into their upcoming projects. According to reports from GosuGamers, citing @chibi0108 on Twitter, one of these projects is an "auto-chess" game that involves "Destined Spirits" in combat. While direct access to the original job listings is unavailable, these hints have led to speculation that Honkai Nexus Anima might be this auto-chess game.
Although HoYoverse has not yet officially confirmed these speculations or announced the game, the anticipation is high given miHoYo's proven track record with titles like Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and the upcoming Zenless Zone Zero. Fans are eager to see how Honkai Nexus Anima will fit into the company's expanding portfolio.
