inZOI, the latest life simulation game from Krafton, has achieved a remarkable feat by selling 1 million copies within just one week of its Early Access launch on Steam. This milestone marks the fastest sales record for any game published by the South Korean giant, showcasing the immense popularity and interest in this new title.
Launched on March 28, inZOI quickly made headlines, not just for its sales but also due to an unexpected in-game issue where players could harm children. Krafton swiftly addressed this by patching what they described as an "unintended bug." Despite this early hiccup, the game has maintained a 'very positive' user review rating on Steam and achieved a peak of 175,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch, securing the third spot in the Games category. Impressively, inZOI soared to the top of Steam's Global Top Sellers List just 40 minutes after its release.
The game's in-game user-generated content platform, Canvas, also saw significant engagement, with over 1.2 million participants and more than 470,000 pieces of content uploaded on launch day. This level of interaction underscores the community's enthusiasm and creativity.
IGN's Early Access review of inZOI awarded it a 6/10, praising its visual appeal and ambition but noting a lack of depth at this stage. Krafton credits its pre-launch promotional efforts and ongoing communication with the community for building trust and momentum leading up to the release. The inZOI global showcase and demo build were particularly effective in generating high interest, according to the company.
CEO CH Kim expressed gratitude and excitement about introducing inZOI to a global audience through Early Access, emphasizing Krafton's commitment to continuous player engagement and the development of inZOI as a long-term franchise IP.
Looking ahead, Krafton plans to enhance inZOI with future updates that will include mod support and new cities, all provided free of charge until the game's full release. In response to player feedback, Krafton has promised to implement quick fixes for reported issues throughout April, acknowledging the challenges of managing a global community and the need to refine their communication strategies.
