Nexon has announced the global closure of KartRider: Drift, the mobile, console, and PC racing game launched in January 2023. The game will be discontinued worldwide later this year across all platforms.
Will Asian Servers Also Shut Down?
No, the Asian servers in Taiwan and South Korea will remain operational. However, Nexon plans to significantly update these versions. Specific changes and the possibility of a future global relaunch haven't been revealed.
KartRider: Drift Global Shutdown Date?
Nexon hasn't provided a precise shutdown date. The game is still available on the Google Play Store, allowing players to enjoy it before its closure later this year.
Reasons Behind the Global Shutdown
Despite efforts to provide a seamless global experience, KartRider: Drift faced challenges. Players expressed dissatisfaction with excessive automation, leading to repetitive gameplay. Technical issues, including suboptimal performance on some Android devices and numerous bugs, further hampered the game's success. These factors prompted Nexon to reassess its strategy, resulting in the decision to discontinue the global version. The focus will now shift to the Korean and Taiwanese PC versions, aiming for a revitalized and improved gaming experience.
