The demon-slaying action is about to hit our screens as Netflix unveils its highly anticipated anime adaptation of the iconic video game series, Devil May Cry. Fans have been treated to an exciting new trailer, but perhaps the most thrilling news is the posthumous involvement of the legendary voice actor Kevin Conroy. Known for his iconic portrayal of Bruce Wayne and Batman in numerous animated projects, Conroy will lend his voice to the character VP Baines, a new addition to the Devil May Cry universe, as heard in the trailer's opening voiceover.

Conroy's performance in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 3 in July 2024 was met with widespread acclaim, and his role in this new series offers fans another chance to appreciate his remarkable talent, following his passing in November 2022 at the age of 66. Joining Conroy in the cast are Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, Chris Coppola as Enzo, and Johnny Yong Bosch, who voices the protagonist Dante.

According to Netflix's official synopsis, "Sinister forces are at play to open the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck."

The series is being helmed by producer Adi Shankar, who will serve as the showrunner. Shankar is renowned for his work as an executive producer on films like the 2012 Judge Dredd reboot, Killing Them Softly starring Brad Pitt, and The Voices with Ryan Reynolds. He is also set to executive produce an adaptation of Assassin’s Creed, though its long-awaited debut remains uncertain since its announcement in 2017.

Studio Mir, the acclaimed South Korean studio behind hits like The Legend of Korra and X-Men ‘97, will handle the production of this new series. Devil May Cry is slated to premiere on Netflix on April 3, 2025, promising a thrilling blend of action and drama for fans of the franchise.
