Marvel Halts Development on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Shows

by Chloe May 06,2025

Marvel Television has reportedly hit pause on the development of three exciting projects: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. According to Deadline, these shows were never officially greenlit, leaving the door open for potential future release, but Marvel has clearly shifted its focus elsewhere.

This strategic pivot comes as Marvel Studios gears up for the highly anticipated Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. Just this week, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming and TV, shared insights into the company's plans to bring together the gritty street-level heroes from Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders.

Marvel Studios is now adopting a strategy of developing more shows than it ultimately produces. As Winderbaum noted to Screen Rant last year, "We're really being careful about what we choose to do next."

The halt on Nova is particularly noteworthy, especially since just two months ago, it was announced that Ed Bernero, the former showrunner of Criminal Minds, had joined the project as both a writer and showrunner, with Nova set to premiere on Disney+. Strange Academy was set to explore a magical school established by Doctor Strange, with Wong taking the helm. Little is known about Terror, Inc., however.

Here's what's confirmed for Marvel TV shows: Daredevil: Born Again will debut on Disney+ on March 4, Ironheart on June 24, and Wonder Man in December. Additionally, three MCU films are slated for release this year, following the launch of Captain America: Brave New World: Thunderbolts in May and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
