NetEase's Marvel Rivals mistakenly bans innocent players. The developer, NetEase, recently issued a public apology for wrongly banning a significant number of players who were using compatibility layers like those for macOS, Linux, and Steam Deck. These players were incorrectly flagged as cheaters during a crackdown on actual cheating activity.

The unintentional mass-banning occurred on January 3rd. NetEase has since reversed the bans and apologized for the inconvenience. They've also reiterated their commitment to addressing cheating and encouraged players to report any instances they encounter. The company stated they've identified the cause of the false bans and are working to prevent future occurrences.

This isn't the first time Proton, the SteamOS compatibility layer, has triggered anti-cheat systems, highlighting a known challenge in cross-platform compatibility.
Separately, players are calling for the implementation of character bans across all ranks. Currently, this feature is only available at Diamond rank and above, leading to frustration among lower-ranked players who feel disadvantaged by certain overpowered characters. Reddit users have voiced concerns about the lack of this balancing mechanic in lower ranks, impacting gameplay and strategic diversity.

While NetEase hasn't yet publicly responded to this specific feedback, the demand for a rank-agnostic character ban system is growing within the Marvel Rivals community.
