Netflix has officially teamed up with the creators of the acclaimed game Sifu to bring its intense narrative to the big screen. Initially announced in 2022, this film adaptation was being crafted by Story Kitchen in collaboration with Sloclap, the game's developer. However, according to Deadline, the project has seen a significant expansion in its production team.

The streaming giant has enlisted T.S. Nowlin, renowned for his work on the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix's Project Adam, to write the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad, who was previously involved in adapting Sifu's story, might still be part of the project, his current role remains uncertain.

Adding to the impressive lineup, Chad Stahelski, the director behind the John Wick series, along with his production company 87Eleven Entertainment, will serve as executive producers. Stahelski is also currently involved in another major video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima.

Sifu, released in 2022, quickly became a sensation, selling over one million copies within just three weeks of its launch. The game tells the gripping tale of a young martial artist on a quest for vengeance following their master's murder. Equipped with a mystical pendant that revives them after death but ages them several years each time, the protagonist navigates a perilous world filled with danger and intrigue.
