Nintendo's Alarmo alarm clock: Japan launch delayed, global availability unaffected
Despite a worldwide release, Nintendo has announced a delay to the Japanese retail launch of its Alarmo alarm clock due to unexpectedly high demand and insufficient stock. The planned February 2025 launch is postponed indefinitely.
Production Shortages Cause Delay
Nintendo Japan's official website cites current production and inventory limitations as the reason for the delay. While the general sale is postponed, the international March 2025 launch remains unaffected for now.
To manage demand in Japan, Nintendo is implementing a pre-order system exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. This pre-order window opens mid-December, with shipments beginning in early February 2025. The precise pre-order start date will be announced shortly.
A Popular Gaming Alarm Clock
The Alarmo, a unique interactive alarm clock featuring music from popular Nintendo franchises (Super Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, RingFit Adventure, and more via future updates), launched globally in October 2024.
Its immediate popularity exceeded expectations, leading to online order cancellations and a lottery system for online purchases. Physical stock also quickly sold out in various locations, including all Japanese Nintendo stores and the New York flagship store.
Further updates on pre-orders and the rescheduled general sale will be announced soon.
